5 tips for easy sunscreen application

Enjoy basking in the summer sun and participating in outdoor activities safely by making sunscreen application easy for your whole family. Use these tips from Banana Boat.

Apply sunscreen every day

UVA rays are present year-round in all sorts of weather conditions, and prolonged exposure to them can lead to sun damage and skin cancer. In fact, UVA rays can even penetrate glass and clouds. Ensure that you apply sunscreen every single day to keep your skin protected from sun damage — even if the sun’s rays aren’t shining.

Check the UV index

Check the UV index daily and take extra sun protection precautions when it’s higher than three.

Use a golf ball-sized dollop

One golf ball-sized dollop of sunscreen, which is about one ounce or two tablespoons, counts as one head-to-toe application.

Apply before heading outdoors

Apply your sunscreen 15 minutes before heading out in order to ensure that your skin is protected. Remember to also pack a hat, sunglasses and protective clothing.

Remember the two-hour rule

Re-apply your sunscreen every two hours and immediately after swimming, sweating or towel-drying. Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Spray SPF 50+ can easily be packed into a beach bag for re-applying on the go. When applying sunscreen that comes in a spray bottle, spray the product directly into your hand and then rub onto your body. Don’t forget to seek shade if you’ll be spending an extended time outdoors.
